Oil products show returns for second year
Though western North Dakota is nearly a year and a half into an oil industry slowdown, the DAWA Solutions Group is hoping folks in the local energy industry are thinking of the future this week.
The second Bakken Oil Product & Service Show is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at the West River Ice Center in Dickinson with more than 50 exhibitors and safety training courses being offered both days.
Organizer Jeff Zarling said he hopes the Dickinson show will be a repeat of the October 2015 show in Williston, which saw a 25 percent increase in traffic from the previous year.
"With the slowdown, they (industry workers) had an opportunity to take a breath and spend more time looking at new solutions, new vendor relationships, those type of things," he said.
Zarling said the group's last Dickinson show in April 2015 had a good turnout despite of the downturn.
This year, he said the trade show will be smaller, and organizers have added training courses through partnerships with TrainND, Airgas Onsite Safety and Marathon Oil Corp. There's also complimentary tailgate cookout Wednesday and lunch on Thursday.
It's all being done to help entice industry workers who seemingly have more time on their hands these days and may be more willing to invest in money- and time-saving tactics.
"They know the value of getting out, getting in front of people and connecting with the marketplace," he said. The strong companies will actually thrive in this environment."
