1 dead in 1-vehicle rollover near Mandaree
MANDAREE -- A 22-year-old male was killed Saturday morning after losing control of his vehicle 10 miles north of here, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The victim, who was not named in a Highway Patrol report on the accident, was driving north on Highway 22 when he lost control of his 2004 Dodge Durango near milepost 148.
The Durango entered the east ditch of the highway, where it overturned and ejected the driver. The Durango "came back up on the roadway,"?the report states, coming to rest on its wheels on the roadway facing south. The driver came to rest on the east shoulder.
Authorities reported that safety restraints were not in use at the time. The accident, which occurred at 7:30 a.m., remains under investigation.
The Highway Patrol report states that road conditions at the time of the accident were "normal, good," but there was dense fog in the area.
Responding to the call were the North Dakota Highway Patrol, McKenzie County Sheriff's Office, Three Affiliated Tribal Police, New Town Fire and Rescue and New Town Ambulance.
