1 killed in Highway 83 crash north of Minot
A 62-year-old Melita, Manitoba, woman was killed Wednesday when the 2011 GMC Terrain she was driving collided head on with a semi truck on U.S. Highway 83 north of Minot.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that Judith Harkness was traveling north on Highway 83 when the vehicle ahead of her swerved into the east ditch to avoid a semi that was stopped and waiting to turn west onto Ward County Road 6. Harkness turned left into the southbound land to avoid the stopped semi and collided head on with a 2011 International semi.
Harkness’ vehicle entered the east ditch and struck the driver’s side of a stopped Dodge pickup.
The Terrain’s passenger, 66-year-old Charlene Foster of Carnduff, Saskatchewan, was injured. The driver of the International semi, 51-year-old Bradley Myers of Minot, was not injured.
