Four people were injured Monday morning on Hihgway 23 after a car sideswiped another about a mile east of 4 Bears Casino, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol press release.

Tommie Lee McCarty Jr., 48, Dickinson and Jonas Blaine Fredericks, 22, Dickinson were in one of the vehicles and both were injured. Rebecca Jean Canyon, 68, New Town and Brandy Jo Canyon, 31, Newtown were in another vehicle and were also injured. Four-year-old Martinez Canyon was in a car seat and was not injured. The other four had no safety restraints.

Rebecca Jean Canyon was driving west on 23 and McCarty Jr. was heading east when he drove left of center and hit her, according to the release.

McCarty Jr. and Fredericks were transported by ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Minot and the Canyons refused treatment and took themselves to Trinity.

McCarty was cited for driving while his license was suspended and for driving on the left half of the road not in overtaking.
