6-year-old running for school bus is struck by car in Fargo

FARGO — A 6-year-old girl was hit by a car as she and two other children ran for the school bus in Fargo on Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. at 26th Avenue and 18th Street South.

The bus was traveling south and the car was headed north, both on 18th street.

Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said the other two children apparently saw the car and stopped but the girl didn’t see it and was struck.

She was taken to a hospital in an ambulance with unknown injuries.

Vettel said that while the accident was still being investigated, it didn’t appear the driver of the car was at fault.
