DHS announces rescheduled events

The Dickinson High boys golf meet scheduled at Sidney, Mont. on Friday has been postponed to Monday.

The make-up date for Tuesday's softball game against Bismarck has been set for Saturday at Bismarck.

Hawks to finally play in home opener

The fifth-ranked Dickinson State softball team will finally play its season opener today.

The Blue Hawks (25-3) host a doubleheader against Jamestown College (17-10) at 2 p.m. today at Gress Complex. DSU has a 10-0 record in the Dakota Athletic Conference and has played each of those games in Glendive, Mont.

North Dakota starts well at Showcase

BENSENVILLE, Ill. -- Team North Dakota started its 2009 Chicago Showcase with a 6-0 win over Texas-Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Chase Freidig of Devils Lake got the win in the net, stopping just seven shots. North Dakota was led by a pair of goals each from Williston's Jake Axtman and Grand Forks Central's Jake Plutowski. The team had a 3-0 lead going into the third and added three insurance goals in the rout.

Dickinson's Joel Otto will reportedly get the start between the pipes against Philadelphia at 7 a.m. today.

Junior skills competition being held Friday

Dickinson Parks and Recreation's Junior Olympic Skills Competition is being held Friday at the West River Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m.

The competition consists of basketball, soccer, tennis and track and field events for boys and girls ages 8-13 (as of Aug. 1, 2009).

Registration takes place at the event with competition beginning immediately following each participant's registration.

Prairie Rose Basketball Shootout date scheduled

Dickinson Parks and Recreation is having the 2009 Prairie Rose Basketball Shootout on Sunday for grades 5-10.

Participants may register anytime between noon and 2 p.m. at the West River Community Center the day of the event.

The top scoring participant in each division advances to the finals at the Prairie Rose State Games on July 11 and 12 in Grand Forks.

Youth soccer program to begin

Dickinson Parks and Recreation's youth soccer program is beginning Monday for children in kindergarten and first grade. It begins Tuesday for grades 2-6.
