Attempted murder charge pending against Arizona man; 2 others face accomplice charges for Gladstone incident
Three individuals involved in a late-night New Year's Eve shots fired incident in Gladstone are expected to make an initial appearance at the Stark County Courthouse today.
Stark County State's Attorney Tom Henning said that Robert C. York, 44, will likely face attempted murder charges while brothers Rusty Shields, 25, and Ryan Shields, 24, are expected to receive accomplice charges.
"At this point, charges are still pending," Henning told The Press Wednesday evening. "From the information I have, I expect they will be filed Thursday morning."
From information he obtained Wednesday from the SCSO, Henning said York produced and fired a sawed-off shotgun during a bar fight that was initiated in the Enchanted Hideaway Bar in Gladstone Monday night.
Henning said Justin Willis, who is listed as a Gladstone resident, received minor injuries to his face from either gun powder burn or the grazing of a bullet after an altercation with the trio.
York and the Shields brothers were apprehended in a van being operated by York with two women and three children aboard sometime early Tuesday morning. Neither Willis nor the women in the van are expected to face any charges, Henning said.
York has an Arizona address while the Shields brothers are from Iowa. Stark County Sheriff Clarence Tuhy declined to comment on the case, citing an in-progress investigation. Enchanted Hideaway owner Jerry Johnson has declined to comment on the case.
