KILLDEER — The Hebron-Glen Ullin girls basketball team postseason isn’t ending in Killdeer.

The Bearcats jumped out to an early 11-point lead and never looked back defeating the Cowboys 63-52 in the Region 7 Tournament play-in game on Tuesday.

Kendra Gerving led HGU (4-18) with a game-high 24 points and three steals. Kennedy Zuroff added 12 points and nine rebounds. Kari Gerving posted nine points and Taya Bandle had eight.

For the Cowboys, Jessica Starr scored a team-high 21 points and six rebounds. Morgan LeMieux supplied 12 points and six rebounds.

The Bearcats play top-seed Beach open the Region 7 Tournament at 3 p.m. Monday at DHS gymnasium.

Schramm, Beulah topple Heart River

BEULAH — The Beulah girls basketball team defeated Heart River 47-26 in a play-in game for the Region 7 tournament Tuesday.

The Miners went off to a six-point lead in the first quarter and continued to build from there. Nicole Schramm and Jamie Murschel combined for 26 of Beulah’s 47 points while Schramm hit one of her team’s two 3-point shots. Delaney Johansen sank the other one and added nine points.

For the Cougars, Jessica Praus finished the game with a team-high seven points while Karli Northrop added six, Laynee Kudrna, Graceylnn Gross and Alex Polans each contributed four. Jada Mattson rounded out with one point.

Beulah will start off its Region 7 play by facing No. 4-seed New England at 4:30 p.m. Monday at DHS gymnasium.

Bowman County cruises, beats Wildfire

BOWMAN — The Bowman County girls basketball team punched its ticket to the Region 7 tournament Monday with a big win over Mott-Regent.

The Bulldogs beat the Wildfire 65-47 in a play-in game Tuesday and will move forward to take on No. 4-seed Hazen.

Mott-Regent kept within close distance in the first half, and went into the locker rooms down 32-24. But Bowman County — who was led by Kaylee Heinreich and Brittany Hanson with 19 and 14 points, respectively — pulled away in the second and finished the game with an 18-point lead.

The Wildfire also had two players finish in double digits as Abby Honeyman had a team-high 14 points and MaLynn Kautzman added 11. Honeyman finished tied for a game-high seven rebounds, while Sadie Ambers had 3 blocks.

Bowman County will square off against Hazen at 7:30 p.m. Monday at DHS gymnasium.

Night Hawks down Richardton-Taylor

HETTINGER — Casey Joppa posted 21 points and helped the Hettinger-Scranton girls basketball team roll past Richardton-Taylor.

The Night Hawks held a 14-point halftime lead and went on to defeat the Raiders 49-29 in the play-in game of the Region 7 Tournament on Tuesday.

Kaitlin Reitz added eight points, while Cassie Holf had six. Nicole Weaver posted four.

Richardton-Taylor’s Hannah Rummel scored a team-high eight points, while Reagan Olson and Mikayla Aluise each had seven.

Hettinger-Scranton plays No. 2-seed Dickinson Trinity in the quarterfinals of the Region 7 Tournament at 6 p.m. Monday at DHS gymnasium.
