Bismarck Century tops Dickinson

BISMARCK — The Bismarck Century boys hockey team defeated Dickinson High 5-1 in a statewide matchup Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first period, Century was quick to put points on the board as Alex Flieck scored 44 seconds into the second. Dickinson junior forward Matt Pavek tied it up with an unassisted goal, but the Patriots scored four unanswered goals by four different players. Keaton Leininger, Sam Johnson and Byrne Curl each scored in the second period while Cyril Nagurski shot the only goal in the third.

Dickinson senior goalie Brett Schweitzer made 31 saves in the game while Century’s Jack Abfalter made 21.

The Midgets return to action against Richland (Mont.) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
