Bismarck High handles Dickinson
When the Dickinson High volleyball team is playing with energy, it can compete with any team in the state.
Dickinson saw a tale of two teams again — one with energy and one without — as Bismarck High took a four-set 25-23, 25-27, 25-15, 25-18 win on Tuesday.
“It’s kind of been our typical for on the season,” Dickinson head coach Jay Schobinger said. “In the first two sets, we were right there with Bismarck. We lost the first one, but won the second one. We just kind of lost the momentum, fire and enthusiasm we need to play with the good teams.”
Keely Hutchens led the Midgets with 12 kills, while Sierra Rohr added nine and Marissa Schroeder supplied six. Schroeder posted two blocks. Madison Schobinger dished out 25 assists and 17 digs. Mackee Hoffmann had 15 digs.
The Midgets competed in the opening two sets, but the Demons handled the third and fourth with ease.
“Bismarck picked it up and kind of took it to us in the third set, but in the fourth set we battled better,” Jay Schobinger said.
Dickinson and Bismarck meet again in the first round of the West Region Tournament beginning next Thursday in Jamestown.
“The big key for us is going to maintain the intensity level for a complete match,” Jay Schobinger said. “We know when we maintain that intensity level we can compete with them. It’s a matter of maintain that high level of intensity for a whole match.”
