BLM is seeking public comment on pipeline
The Bureau of Land Management North Dakota Field Office will accept public comments for the environmental assessment from now until July 6 regarding the proposed CenterPoint Energy Bakken Crude Services Bear Den Project.
The proposed project would include the construction, operation and maintenance of crude oil gathering wastewater conveyance pipelines in McKenzie and Dunn counties, depositing oil at a central storage and transfer facility south of Watford City and wastewater to a state-regulated saltwater disposal well.
The crude oil pipeline would be 68.5 miles long while the water pipeline would be just less than 60 miles long, according to a BLM release. Both pipelines would be underground.
The BLM is the lead federal agency preparing the EA and is working in concert with the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
An electronic version of the EA is available online at blm.gov/n5kd and can also be obtained by calling the North Dakota Field Office 701-227-7700. Written comments can be emailed to lhassler@
blm.gov or sent through the U.S. mail to Lowell Hassler at the BLM North Dakota Field Office, 99 23rd Avenue West, Suite A, Dickinson, N.D., 58601.
