"I think the kids played really well as a team," DSU head coach Ty Orton said. "They executed their defense and offense really well. We had some kids that stepped up and played team basketball."

Casper Hesseldal led the Blue Hawks with game-highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds. The senior went 10 of 16 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line.

"There were a lot of kids that stepped up in this game, but Casper's points are going to shine out," Orton said.

DSU grabbed a 38-20 lead at halftime and shooting well from the free throw line helped. The Blue Hawks went 22 of 26 from the line.

Tevin Hurd added 12 points for DSU, while Ryan Kittleson came off the bench and chipped in 11.

"We went deep into our bench," Orton said. "Ryan Kittleson played really well. He just handled the pressure extremely well and handled the ball well."

AJ McDonald led VCSU with 24 points, while going 5 of 9 from 3-point range. Sekani Milligen added 12 points.

The Blue Hawks will take this past two games that have been packed full of confidence into its season finale with Jamestown College at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

"We feel every game is the Super Bowl and it's a one game season," Orton said. "You step up and play as well as you can for that one game then you reboot the next day."
