The Blue Hawks still couldn't come away with their first Frontier Conference victory.

Laci Keller had 12 points and seven rebounds as the Skylights held off DSU 59-56 in a tightly played women's basketball game at the Armory Gymnasium.

"We're getting better, we've just got to keep plugging away," DSU head coach Caleb Harrison said. "They're doing everything we ask of them."

The difference came in where the teams made their shots. DSU shot 22 of 69 (32 percent) from the field while MSUN was 20 of 27 (74 percent) from the free-throw line.

The Skylights' (9-5, 1-1 Frontier) used dribble-drive penetration to draw fouls on DSU and get to the line consistently throughout the game.

Kylee Denham was the key component there, scoring 16 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the field and going 4 of 5 from the line.

"I think if we had done a better job of stopping their driving, we wouldn't have had to foul quite as much," Harrison said.

Janae Moore led the Blue Hawks (5-11, 0-2 Frontier) with 16 points and five steals. Marirah Duran added 15 points after shooting 6 of 19 from the field, which included a 3 of 9 performance from 3-point range.

DSU hits the road again as it plays Carroll College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

"We'll be in games, it just comes down to executing a little better down the stretch," Harrison said.
