MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) -- A bomb squad was called out after workers at the American Crystal Sugar processing plant in Moorhead found a live blasting cap.

Police got the call about 10:30 a.m. today. Lt. Brad Penas says the blasting cap came into the facility with a load of coal.

The Forum reports that blasting caps, which are about the size of a 2- to 3-inch-long pencil, are used in coal mining. The newspaper says it's not unusual for American Crystal workers to find blasting caps in coal, but usually they've already been detonated.

The Red River Regional Bomb Squad removed the blasting cap to dispose of it safely.
