Bomb squad destroys explosives left in street
WEST FARGO — The bomb squad was called out to get rid of two improvised explosive devices made out of fireworks someone left lying in the middle of the street here Thursday afternoon, police said.
West Fargo police Officer Trent Stanton said at about 2:56 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of two suspicious items lying on the boulevard in the 500 block of Prescott Lane.
Officers inspected the two devices and found that they were improvised explosive devices, made out of common firework sparklers.
Members of the Red River Regional Bomb Squad were dispatched to the scene and safely destroyed the devices, Stanton said.
Police found no other items in the area.
Police are reminding the public to avoid handling suspicious-looking items, and to contact local law enforcement if something suspicious-looking is discovered.
