Bowman woman appears in court for murder charge
A Bowman woman accused of murdering her newborn baby earlier this year was in the Stark County Courthouse in Dickinson on Tuesday.
Flanked by her attorney, Erica Chisholm Jaehning, Stephanie Lindstrom appeared before Southwest District Judge William Herauf for a brief pretrial conference. Lasting less than two minutes, the conference resulted in a continuation of Lindstrom’s jury trial, which had been scheduled for Dec. 4.
Bowman County State’s Attorney Andrew Weiss said Lindstrom is set to undergo a mental evaluation in late November or early December, which would conflict with the trial date. Charged with a Class AA felony, Lindstrom is accused of giving birth to a live baby in July at her home in Bowman before drowning the baby in a toilet, according to court testimony.
If convicted, Lindstrom could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
