Brost completes Marine basic training
Dawson Brost of Dickinson recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif.
Brost completed 12 weeks of training to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. Recruits began their training at 5 a.m. by running 3 miles and performing calisthenics.
He spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments, including first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and weapons training. He also received instruction in the Marie Corps core values.
Recruits ended the training phase with the crucibles, a 54-hour team effort and problem-solving evolution.
After graduation, he will be stationed at Camp Pendleton for three weeks of combat training. He will begin additional training at Fort Leavenworth in Missouri.
Brost is a 2013 graduate of Trinity High School.
