Cecelia A. Black

Cecelia A. Black, 91, passed away on December 10, 2013 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Church of Corpus Christi with Rev. Paul Becker officiating.

Visitation will be held at Bismarck Funeral Home from 5-8 pm, Thursday, December 12, with Rosary at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation will take place following funeral.

Cecelia born October 22, 1922 in Dickinson, ND, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Marsh) Buresh. She grew up and attended country school and high school in Stark County. As a young girl, she helped on the family farm and worked as a nanny in N.Y. caring for her brothers children. Cecelia married Harold Black on July 29, 1946 in Dickinson and together had five children, Arnie, Connie, Shirley, Pat, and Marcy. Together they raised their children on a farm near Manning and Dickinson. Cecelia worked as a Food Service Manager for Berg Elementary School until retiring in 1984.

Cecelia moved to Bismarck in 2001. She loved to cook, crochet, dance, and make rugs. She loved to prepare meals and host friends and family in her home. She always had her door open for anyone. Her specialty, Christmas cookies & caramels were looked forward to and were enjoyed by everyone. Cecelia was a member of the Catholic Church and her faith was very important to her.

Cecelia is survived by one son, Arnie (Toni) Black, of Albuquerque, NM, four daughters, Connie (Gary) Kalanek, of Bismarck, Shirley (Frank) Macefe, of Butler, PA, Pat (Dan) Olson, of Maple Grove, MN, Marcy (Terry) Hellman, of League City, TX. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Jennifer, Bill, Jocelyne, Nicole, Jared, Noelle, Rachelle, Melissa, Jerry, Jessica, Julie, Jameson, and eighteen great grandchildren Sarah, Ava, Joshua, Peyton, Calista, Alex, Paige, Hayden, Caleb, Jacob, Riley, Gertrude, Arden, Aiden, Jaxon, Ian, Kylie, Ashton, and expecting two more (twins) in April 2014. She is survived by one brother, Frank Buresh, of Dickinson, three sisters, Emma (Willard) Jaeger, of Dickinson, Rose (Henry) Sadowsky, of Dickinson, Clara (Robert) Volesky, of Helena, MT, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, his parents, two brothers, Anton and Bill, one sister, Victoria Pirkl and one special friend Leo Bader.
