Charlene M. "Char" Christensen

Charlene M. Christensen was born April 11, 1948 to Philip and Mary (Ficek) Jablonsky at Dickinson, North Dakota.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Dickinson in 1966. She moved to California for a brief time then returned to Dickinson where she married Robert C. "Bob" Christensen on September 30, 1972 before moving to Albany. From 1972 -1975 she worked at North Albany Grade school. She and her family lived in Ontario, La Grande and McMinnville returning to Albany in 1983 where she was a Real Estate secretary and later a bakery hostess. She managed Hickory Farms and helped open Christopher and Banks Clothing, both in Heritage Mall, gaining recognition for her top sales achievements at both, and gaining respect and friendship of all those who knew her. She retired in 2005 due to declining health.

She enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, playing cards, the coast, and the many friendships she made. She loved baking, cooking and making her delicious soups, making sure there was always enough to share. She was known for her exceptional memory, friendly smile, warm greeting and loving heart wherever she went. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Char is survived by her husband Bob of Albany and her son Keenen and his fiance Gina Farren both of Albany. She is also survived by her brothers Steve Jablonsky of Roseville, CA and Richard Jablonsky of Dickinson, ND and sisters Betty Kudrna and Elaine Wanner of Dickinson ND and Louise Schock of Minot ND; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother George Jablonsky and a sister Mary Kostelecky.

Memorial Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 930 Queen Ave. SW in Albany at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. The family suggests contributions to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. SW, Albany, Oregon 97321. (
