The donations are expected to affect 500 to 600 students in the McKenzie County School District, according to a release. All items are free to qualified students and their families. The clothing and supplies will be distributed Saturday, Aug. 16.

About 50 local volunteers are working to process requests and distribute the clothing.

“The effort was organized after hearing that a large number of students came to school improperly clothed for winter weather last year and that many students wore the same outfit to school every day,” Richard Braithwaite, the event coordinator, stated in a release.

This project marks the beginning of a collaborative relief effort between the church and the Salvation Army in western North Dakota. In addition to the back-to-school clothing, the church is shipping 25 pallets of clothing directly to the Salvation Army. Undistributed back-to-school clothing will also be donated to the Salvation Army.

Church membership is not required to receive assistance. For more information or to request assistance, please contact a volunteer representative at 701-400-7050 or by email at srb4golf@gmail.com.
