DILLON, Mont. -- Offensive struggles stymied the DSU men's basketball team Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Hawks shot just 29 percent from the field and didn't have a player score in double figures as Montana Western routed them 78-51 in a Frontier Conference game.

"We didn't attack," DSU head coach Ty Orton said. "We had good looks. But we're just making the wrong decisions when we get in the paint and didn't do some things. We're just not putting the ball on the floor."

DSU was 17 of 53 from the field and 9 of 31 from 3-point range. Anthony Hodges came off the bench to lead Blue Hawks (9-12, 2-4 Frontier) with eight points and four assists. Brock Boos added six points and seven boards.

Several players scored for DSU, but few made big impacts. DSU's bench players combined for 35 points and 23 of the team's 36 rebounds.

Western outscored the Blue Hawks 20-2 in the final 9 minutes of first half.

"The kids came back and fought hard in the second half. They were just hitting shots on us," Orton said. "We had to change some things, got in panic mode a little bit and just didn't get it done."

Jake Owsley had 14 points and five rebounds to lead Western. Jordan Overstreet scored 12 points and Gabe Rucker had 11 points and seven assists. Chris Castro added eight points, nine assists and six rebounds for the Bulldogs (14-6, 4-3 Frontier), who shot 46 percent from the field.

Orton said the road trip wore on the Blue Hawks, who lost to No. 18-ranked Westminster 92-52 on Thursday. They host Westminster at 7 p.m. Thursday and Western at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
