Company rescinds application for well near TRNP
Dickinson North Dakota 1815 1st Street West 58602

BISMARCK — An oilfield company has removed its application to drill a well near Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Wichita, Kan.-based Horizon Oilfield Services withdrew the application for an injection well as part of its “continuing effort to be responsible to North Dakota citizen and the environment,” CEO George Tingo said in a release Wednesday.

The permit was to be considered at the North Dakota Industrial Commission’s March 27 hearing, but then the National Park Service and Badlands Conservation Alliance sent the Industrial Commission letters of concern about the well’s proximity to the park.

On April 17, Tingo, TRNP Superintendent Valerie Naylor and representatives of the Badlands Conservation Alliance met, and the permit application was later withdrawn.
