Coyote released after wandering into Fargo mall

FARGO — A small coyote was safely released Tuesday afternoon after wandering into a back corridor of the West Acres mall in Fargo.

A staff member spotted the animal about 2:30 p.m. and was able to block it off by shutting the door into the hallway, said Alissa Adams, the mall’s marketing director, adding that it never was in any public areas of the mall.

The city’s Animal Control captured the coyote and released it about 3:30 p.m. south of town, where he “ran away happily.”

“It’s something we’ve never seen before,” Adams said. “So it was definitely a first.”
