Damaged pipeline leaks 400 barrels of oil
A Targa pipeline was struck and damaged, causing it to leak about 400 barrels of crude oil, the North Dakota Department of Health announced Friday.
The spill occurred about nine miles north of Alexander. Most of it was contained in a trench being dug at the pipeline site, though Targa estimated five to 10 barrels overflowed but are being contained by berms.
Vacuum trucks removed liquid oil and the impacted soil will be removed.
A health inspector is on location and will coordinate with the company regarding cleanup.
