Darlene M. Weisser

WEISSER, Darlene M. of San Leandro passed away on March 27, 2014 at the age of 77 years after a 20 month battle with cancer of the kidneys, liver and lungs. She is survived by her two children Terry Weisser (Shelly) and Lois Sutliff (John), 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister Marilyn (Jean) Kraft. She is also survived by several aunts and one uncle and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Lea Sukut, her husband Lloyd Weisser, her oldest daughter Vivian Klos, and her two brothers Arlyn Sukut and Harvey Sukut. Even though the family resided on the family farm near Wishek ND, Darlene was born in Pierre, South Dakota on June 17, 1936. There was a brief move to Sunnyside WA in the 40's and eventually the family moved back to Wishek ND and then to Bismarck ND in 1952. Darlene met the love of her life, Lloyd Weisser, in Wishek ND and after a short romance they got married on October 13, 1954. Early in her married life Darlene and her family moved from Bismarck ND to Alexandria MN and Dickinson ND to follow job opportunities for her husband Lloyd. In the early 1960's Darlene became an Avon representative and became a top sales person for her district and region. She even encouraged her sister-in law to become a representative, who still sells Avon to this date. In 1972, with the encouragement from lifelong family friends, Darlene and her husband moved the family to San Leandro, CA where she resided for 42 years until her death. While in San Leandro, Darlene was a housewife and then in the 1990's she decided to go back to work working at the San Lorenzo School District as a food delivery driver for 7+ years. She retired in June 2001, but kept herself busy around the house helping maintain it, planting a vegetable garden, helping her family making homemade country style sausage, and homemade noodles. She also enjoyed salmon fishing, which she did with her sister and brother-in-law in Washington State until her own husband's death. Darlene was an avid puzzler and loved the challenge of a 2000 piece puzzle and loved to tell everyone how many pieces she had put in that day. She also did some traveling in the last several years to ND by herself to see family and friends and then to Las Vegas and Savannah with her son and daughter-in-law and last year to Washington State to see her sister. Funeral arrangements are made by Santos-Robinson Mortuary in San Leandro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, The American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity.
