BISMARCK -- The Dickinson High volleyball team still had some kinks to work out in the first set of its match against Bismarck High.

But a slow start for the Midgets proved to be costly, as the Demons won in straight sets 25-16, 25-23, 26-24 Tuesday.

"We had some communication and ball control problems in the first set." Schobinger said. "We need to take care of those few things and you're right there with this team and our kids did a pretty nice job. We got our middles going, which means we fixed up the ball control."

The Midgets' middles -- Sierra Rohr and Marissa Schroeder -- each had solid nights leading the team in kills with 11 and six, respectively. Rohr also contributed three blocks and Schroder had two.

Schobinger said it was a positive to see his team adjust and bounce back for the second and third sets, but the team still needs to work on finishing out games.

"When your two middles are one and two in kills that says you were taking care of the ball pretty well," he said. "We need to find ways to win those two close ones.

For the Demons, Morgan Miller had 13 kills and Natalee Todd recorded eight kills, four blocks and two aces.

"Bismarck High is very very athletic pretty fast-paced offense and they're a ball control team and tough to defend," Schobinger said. "We got to take care of the communication issue, that's going to be one thing and each individual has a few things they have to work on."

Dickinson doesn't take the court again until Friday for the Fargo North tournament. Besides working on ball control and simple communication between the team, Schobinger said the middles need to continue to perform like they did Tuesday in order to be successful.

"Offensively they have most of the touches tonight and in order for us to be effective we have to get our middles the ball and that will help open up the outside," Schobinger said. "We did a good job with that part of the game tonight."
