Demons roll past, handle Dickinson High

BISMARCK — The No. 3 seed Bismarck High boys basketball team made life tough on Dickinson for the first 18 minutes.

The Midgets made three shots — two of which were 3-pointers — and finished 16 percent from the field.

Bismarck didn’t allow the Midgets back into the ball game and went on to take a 68-37 win during the quarterfinals of the West Region Tournament on Thursday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

The Demons (15-5) were led by Tanner Schafer with 13 points. Stanley Jones, who is committed to play football at North Dakota State in the fall, and Seth Heilman each added 11. James Ironeyes posted nine rebounds and four points.

Dickinson (7-13) responded with an improved second half going 12 of 30 (40 percent). Luke Herauf supplied a game-high 14 points. Levi Jordheim, who is also committed to play football at NDSU, chipped in six points and six rebounds. Parker Egli and Mark Erickson each added five points.

The Midgets play No. 7 seed Jamestown in the loser-out game of the West Region Tournament at 1:45 p.m. today in the Bismarck Civic Center exhibition hall.
