DHS defeats Braves, reaches state-qualifying match
JAMESTOWN — The Dickinson High volleyball team has one last chance to reach the North Dakota Class A state tournament.
“We just have to come out, play hard and take care of the ball,” Dickinson head coach Jay Schobinger said. “We’re going to tell the kids to go out and have a blast. We want them to have fun, because that’s what the game is about. If it’s meant to be, than it’s going to be. We are going play like there is no tomorrow.”
The Midgets’ five-set win over the Braves was headlined by Sierra Rohr, who finished with a game-high 15 kills and three blocks. Sydney Gangl and Keely Hutchens each added 10 kills. Hutchens also supplied 19 digs, two aces and two blocks.
Madison Schobinger dished out 32 assists and 12 digs in the win. Mackee Hoffman had a team-high 26 digs and two aces.
Rachelle Harr led the Braves’ offense with 10 kills. Miranda Lowman followed with nine. Madysen Zander supplied 32 assists, while Sara Aune had 26 digs and three aces.
In the previous two matches against Bismarck Century, both ended in losses for Dickinson. The Midgets are hoping to turn the tide and punch its ticket to the state tournament.
