DHS golf improves in 24-hour window

BISMARCK — The Dickinson High boys golf team ended with a less than desirable perform on Friday.

The Midgets used the quick turnaround to forget the sour feelings.

Dickinson had four golfers finish with a 90 or lower during the Bismarck Century Invitational at Tom O’Leary Golf Course.

“(On Friday) we were really disappointed,” Dickinson head coach Sara Berglund said. “We just haven’t been hitting the ball very well and we weren’t really confident when we stepped up to the ball. That’s a hard thing to get through when you have tournament after tournament. The main thing we talked for about for (Saturday) was to work on improving your score. They did that. We showed a lot of improvement.”

Junior Alex Priebe led the way for the Midgets with an 82, while Tony Kostelecky posted an 83. Nick Himmelspach added an 89 and Matt Schaefer rounded out the top four scores with a 90.

Bismarck St. Mary’s won the event with a 311, while Jamestown placed runner-up with a 312 and Century closed out the top three with a 313. Turtle Mountain’s Jackson Davis was the medalist after he defeated St. Mary’s Grant Dvorak in a playoff.

The Midgets continue their season hosting the Dickinson Invitational at 9 a.m. Monday.
