Dickinson attorney Dann Greenwood cruises to victory in Southwest Judicial District race

Dickinson attorney Dann Greenwood handily defeated Stark Country State's Attorney Tom Henning on Tuesday for the open Southwest Judicial District judgeship.

Garnering more than 60 percent of the vote in the race, Greenwood will begin a six-year term in January. Henning has two more years remaining in his term as a state's attorney.

"I appreciate all the support I've received and I'm looking forward to the opportunity," Greenwood said Tuesday night. "I had a lot of help in this campaign and I took nothing for granted. I think the voters made the right choice."

A managing partner at the Greenwood & Ramsey law firm, Greenwood is a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Law. Current Southwest District Judge Patrick Weir announced he wouldn't seek reelection earlier this year.

"Dann ran an outstanding campaign," Henning said. "He did very well in the primary and he carried that momentum all the way through. I'm disappointed, but I imagine Dann will do a good job."
