BISMARCK — Dickinson senior shortstop Dylan Skabo opened the game with a walk, stole second, and third and completed a double steal — with Mark Erickson after he walked — to score the open run.

Needless to say, Dickinson was off to the races.

The Midgets stole 14 bases and went on to beat Bismarck St. Mary’s 13-1 in a West Region game on Tuesday. Dickinson completed the sweep against the Saints with a 19-1 win in the nonconference game.

Dickinson’s senior right-handed pitcher Brett Schweitzer didn’t allow much on the mound.

Schweitzer gave up a first-inning home run to opposing pitcher Jacob Brucker. However, Schweitzer got payback as he belted a two-run home run in the third inning. On the mound, Schweitzer went five innings, allowed two hits, one run and struck out three.

Skabo finished 2 for 2 with two walks and six stolen bases, while Luke Herauf was 2 for 3 with a RBI and two stolen bases. Cole Anderson, who picked up the win in game two, was 2 for 3 with two stolen bases. Tanner Hopfauf tacked on two hits and drove in three runs.

In the second game, the Midgets scored 10 runs in the first inning.

Hopfauf posted three hits and three RBI. Anderson and Mitchell Mehrer each had two hits, while Dylan Skabo and Mike McChesney had two RBI.

Dickinson hosts Jamestown at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
