Dickinson High misses states by 3 strokes

JAMESTOWN — By a slim, three-stroke margin, the Dickinson High boys golf team failed to qualify for the North Dakota Class A tournament.

The Midgets finished in seventh place with a team score of 342 during the West Region Tournament Tuesday at the Jamestown Country Club. The top six teams in the Region qualify for the state tournament which starts on June 3 also at the Jamestown Country Club.

Alex Priebe shot the lowest score for Dickinson with an 83, followed by Tony Kostelecky and Carter Donnan each with an 86. Matt Schaefer supplied an 87 while Alex Turcotte and Davis Donann rounded the scores out with a 90 and 96, respectively.

Minot won the West Region with a team score of 317. Jamestown (319), Bismarck St. Mary’s (328), Bismarck Century (329), Mandan (331) and Bismarck High (340) all qualified for the state tournament. Mandan’s Colton Murphy was named the individual medalist after shooting a 72 on the day.
