Dickinson High volleyball team stays perfect in West Region
BISMARCK -- The Dickinson High volleyball team remained unbeaten against West Region opponents Tuesday.
Despite a test in second set, the Midgets defeated Bismarck St. Mary's 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 on Tuesday for their second straight sweep.
"Other than a lull mid-set in the second set, we played pretty consistent volleyball," Dickinson head coach Jay Schobinger said. "St. Mary's is much improved and they do a lot of good things. They run a little faster offense, so that was kind good for us to see."
Abby Grove led Dickinson with 10 kills and seven digs, while Ali Moody added seven kills, eight aces and 22 assists. The Midgets had five players with four or more kills.
"Our setters are doing a nice job of spreading the ball around and getting everybody involved, so we don't become predictable," Schobinger said. "Abby Grove is our offensive leader and we could become very predictable giving her the ball all the time."
Dickinson has an 8-3 record and is 4-0 in the West. The Midgets have also defeated Mandan, Bismarck Century and Minot. Dickinson has swept all of its West opponents except Century, which went five sets.
Dickinson continues to first trip through the West Region hosting Jamestown at 6 p.m. Thursday.
