"The criminal information was served on him and he entered a not guilty plea," said Stark County State's Attorney Tom Henning of Monday's hearing.

Salvatore is facing three charges.

Count 1 alleges that Salvatore was in possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly was knowingly in possession of salvia divinorum, which is a Schedule I controlled substance, without the order of a practitioner. This constitutes a Class C felony.

Count 2 alleges Salvatore committed the criminal act of delivery of a controlled substance. He allegedly made several deliveries of the controlled substance, methadone, to many individuals. This constitutes a Class C felony.

Count 3 alleges that Salvatore acquired a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud or deception. He allegedly made fraudulent copies of prescriptions which had been previously prepared and used those copies to obtain controlled substances, including methadone and dilaudid, which are both Schedule II controlled substances. This constitutes a Class C felony.

All three incidents allegedly occurred on or around Feb. 27, 2008.

Salvatore is out of jail on a $2,000 bond.

His pretrial conference has been scheduled for Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m. His Jury trial is set for Sept. 24 at 9 a.m.
