Dickinson Roughriders picked to finished 4th
With a majority of its roster returning from last season, the Dickinson Roughriders American Legion baseball team is picked to finish fourth in the coaches preseason state poll.
Dickinson collected 63 points. Defending state champions Fargo Post 2 received six first-place votes for the top spot. Bismarck was picked second while Grand Forks is No. 3.
The Roughriders ended last season with a regular-season record of 7-11. Dickinson had the No. 7 seed entering the state tournament. However, the Roughriders finished fourth at the tournament.
The lone player returning who competed during the collegiate season was pitcher and outfielder Alex Huschka. He recently completed his freshman year at Dickinson State.
Huschka is the last Roughriders’ player who can return to play an American Legion season one year removed from high school. The new rule won’t allow players to return.
