Dickinson sets 2 daily rainfall records
Dickinson set a new record for daily rainfall on both Sunday and Monday.
The Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport, the official location for the city’s weather records, received 1.28 inches of rain Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck.
That shattered the old Aug. 4 record of .59 inches set in 1981.
It was the second consecutive day Dickinson set a daily rainfall record. The .42 inches that fell Sunday broke the Aug. 3 record of .38 inches set last year.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 1.78 inches has fallen at the airport in August. The average precipitation for the month is 1.54 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
The August totals are expected to increase by the evening as a band of showers moves through the area.
