Dickinson State men’s basketball team inks 2 players

The summer of signing hasn’t slowed down for Dickinson State men’s basketball head coach Justin Wetzel.

The first-year coach announced the signings of North Dakota native Billy Engel and transfer Connor Donaldson.

Engel, originally from Cooperstown will transfer from Dakota College in Botineau where he played during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Engel helped the Lumberjacks clinch a Region 13 championship title in his sophomore.

Before Dakota College, Engel was a two-sport athlete at Griggs County Central High School and was a two-time all-conference selection for basketball.

Donaldson is a transfer from Montana State-Billings who started 15 games and averaged over eight points per game last season.

Before MSU-Billings, the 6-foot-7 Donaldson played at Everett Community College (Wash.) and averaged 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He was also named first-team in the NWWAACC North Region.
