Dickinson State wrestling holds its own against Concordia
CONCORDIA, Minn — After a successful weekend of wrestling at home, The Dickinson State wrestling team traveled to take on Division III foe, Concordia College (Minn.) who at one point was ranked No. 2.
The Cobbers beat the Blue Hawks 29-18 Thursday night at the Concordia College dual, but DSU was able to pick up crucial wins to make it interesting towards the end.
DSU lost its first two matches, but at the 144-pound weight class, freshman Seth Ehlang picked up a 7-6 decision over Yonas Gebreab. The Blue Hawks had three-straight victories starting with freshman Jon Solano (174) pinning Jackson Barber in 4 minutes, 1 second followed by sophomore Lane Overson (184) with a 10-8 decision and senior Jesse Hellinger (197) rounding it out with a pin at the 2:45 mark.Senior Brian Klevis made his debut after battling a knee injury and fought to the end of his heavyweight bout. Klevis was eventually pinned by Cody Kasprick with 30 seconds left in the match.DSU gets back to the mat for the North Country Open starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s University (Minn.).
