DSU men rule at Cobber Duals
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Dickinson State men's track and field team ran away with first place and two newcomers took front and center.
Freshman Dante Carter set an Olson Forum record in the 1,000-meter run at 2 minutes, 27.69 seconds and freshman Jeffrey Segovia easily won the 3,000 (9:22.56) by 30 seconds.
DSU had eight first-place finishes.
The Blue Hawks' other six individual winners were sophomore Breyan Miller in the 60. He and teammate Fred Agabje each had times of 6.92, but Miller took the win.
Nathan Magstadt won the 400 (51.17). Denis Patrick placed first in the mile (4:24.22) as teammate Dustin Sandbak followed with a runner-up time of 4:24.99. Eddie Meneses won the 5,000 run (15:38.74).
Brady Sundheim won the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 8 inches and placed runner-up in the long jump at 20-10¾. Andrew Knebel won the high jump at 6-7, while Jeremy Evenson took runner-up in the pole vault (13-7¾).
For the DSU women, junior Hailey Schaper won the high jump at 5-4¼. She also took fifth in the triple jump (32-0).
DSU's 800 relay team of Marissa Stanton, Shelby Snare, Mardee Clark and Breezy Boldon claimed first (1:52.64), while sophomore Stormie Sickler took third in the 800 (2:25.74).
The Blue Hawks continue their indoor season by traveling to the Bison Open next Saturday.
