DSU president named a finalist for chancellor job at Wisconsin university
Dickinson State University President D.C. Coston is in the running for the chancellor position at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
UW System President Ray Cross announced the five finalists for the position Wednesday after a nearly four-month search.
“We’re looking for what the community wants,” said Nelu Ghenciu, the head of the 21-member search committee. “We’re looking for a leader.”
Wisconsin-Stout received its polytechnic designation in 2007, and Ghenciu said whoever is selected will take the university to “the next level.”
Coston and the other four finalists will visit the campus later this week and have a final interview on May 21 with university president Cross and the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents before a decision is made.
The new chancellor will succeed Charles W. Sorensen, who announced in December that he will retire this August after 26 years.
“It’s hard to find somebody to replace him,” Ghenciu said. “We’re faced with an enormous task.”
