DSU runs 2nd fastest 3,200 relay time in NAIA
BILLINGS, Mont. — The Dickinson State track and field home meet, the Blue Hawks Games, may have been cancelled Thursday due to weather, but didn’t stop some team members from competing.
A handful of Blue Hawks participated in the Battlin’ Bear-Yellowjacket Open and picked up some national qualifying times and heights.
The men’s 3,200 meter relay team not only met the A standard and won the race, but also ran the second fastest time in the NAIA. Dustin Sandbak, Joe Aman, Delano Lilly and Dante Carter completed the race in 7 minutes, 40.31 seconds.
In the high jump, Andy Knebel hit the A standard and won his event jumping 6 feet, 76 inches, which also ties for the third-best height in the NAIA.
On the women’s side Marissa Stanton and Mardee Clarke traveled with the team to compete. Stanton placed second in the 200 (27.34) and 400 (1:01.07), while Clarke came in third for both the 100 (13.49) and 200 (27.68).
DSU will compete in the Jack Christiansen Open on April 26 in Fort Collins, Colo.
