DSU wins 7 events at Black Hills

SPEARFISH, S.D. -- The Dickinson State men's track and field team had two athletes automatically qualify for the NAIA national indoor championships on Saturday at the Dave Little Invitational, the team's first meet of the season.

"It was a really good start for us," DSU head coach Pete Stanton said. "We're certainly not in great shape in a few events."

Andrew Knebel won the high jump in 6 feet, 8¼ inches and Dante Carter won the mile in 4 minutes, 18.56 seconds.

Brady Sundheim won the triple jump with a leap of 46-6.

Nathan Magstadt won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.3 seconds as the Blue Hawks had the top four finishers with Adrian Fisher (8.61), Wyatt Mirich (8.65) and Jordan Moore (8.81) coming in behind Magstadt.

Breyan Miller won the 60 meters in 6.91 seconds and the 200 in 22.73.

DSU had the top four finishers in the 60 with Jon Dinius (7.09), Mason Frank (7.23) and Josh Neumiller (7.25) coming in behind Miller. Dinius was third in the 200 as well.

Dustin Sandbak won the 800 with a provisional nation-qualifying time of 1:57.23.

The Blue Hawk women won the 1,600 relay in 4:15.74. DSU didn't have any individual winners on the women's side. Hailey Schaper was second in the high jump at 5-1¾.
