The Blue Hawks had their most impressive performances to date, especially on the men’s side as sophomore Dante Carter was named the male MVP of the meet, broke two school records and meet records. Carter finished runner-up in the 800-meter run in 1 minute, 51.7 seconds. He set the school and meet record in the 1,500 run at 3:51.29.

Carter was also part of the first place sprint medley relay team — with Myren Moore, Breyan Miller and Nathan Magstadt — which broke the 50-year-old meet record at 3:25.19.

Miller hit the A standard and won his individual events — 100 and 200 dashes — with times of 10.45 and 21.04, respectively. Miller also broke the meet record in the 200.

Magstadt hit the A standard in the 400 meter hurdles (53.01), the B in the 110 hurdles (14.84) and was a part of the 400 relay team which hit the A standard (41.37). The other three members of the 400 relay, which took runner-up was Jon Dinius, Garreth Kerr and Miller.

Brady Sundheim finished runner-up in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 47 feet, 6.5 inches and hit the B standard.

For the women, Brittany Young qualified for nationals after placing fourth in the 800 (2:15.80). Other notable finishes for the women were the 800 relay team placing fourth and Hailey Schaper taking sixth in the high jump.

With hopes high, DSU is ready to stay home and host the Blue Hawks Games on Thursday at the Biesiot Activities Center.
