Eleanor passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Lukes Home in Dickinson.

Eleanor was born June 14, 1923 in Sheffield, the daughter of Thomas and Rosa (Wandler) Braun. She was raised on the family farm west of Sheffield and attended St. Pius School. After school she continued to help on the family farm. Eleanor met the love of her life, Marcus M. Herauf. On April 8, 1942 the couple was married in St. Pius Catholic Church of Sheffield, ND. After Mark was discharged from the Army, he and Eleanor made their home in Dickinson where they raised their family of five children. Eleanor was a devoted mother who also worked as a housekeeper in the area. In her later years, the highlight of her week was her visit to Karens Salon where she visited with "her girls." Eleanor was very proud of her family and truly enjoyed time spent with them and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to visit with relatives. Entertaining was a pleasure for Eleanor, as Marks band always gathered at their house. She was a great cook and made the best chocolate chip cookies around. Eleanor was also fond of gardening and tending to her yard.

We will miss you Mom. We all loved you sooo much.

Eleanor is survived by her children: Marv (Jody) Herauf of Bismarck, Pat (Don) Kubas of Minot, Donna (Lester) Prettyman of Grand Isle, LA, Karen (Niles) Feininger of Dickinson, Jodi (Derrick) Abell of Torrence, CA; nine grandchildren: Chad (Blanca) Herauf, Tiffany Herauf, Kim (Scott) Mitzel, Todd (Stacy) Kubas, Troy (Sheila) Kubas, Mitch (Lori) Feininger, Gretchen Feininger, Dillon and Megan Abell; step-grandson, Jason (Jessie) Wald; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Tony (Lorraine) Braun of Dickinson, Johnny Braun of Wilmer, MN, Eugene (Shirley) Braun of Fargo; sisters: Hilde Herauf of Billings, MT and Irene (Kasper) Binstock of Regent; and numerous nieces and nephews.
