Faulx joins Press as city reporter

The Dickinson Press has welcomed a new reporter to its staff.

Nadya Faulx joined The Press on Tuesday as its new city reporter.

She will cover the city of Dickinson, health care, K-12 education and higher education.

“I’m very excited to start my new opportunity here in Dickinson,” said Faulx, who grew up in the Denver area.

Faulx is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where she completed her master’s degree. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver.

Faulx has interned for both Agence France-Presse and National Public Radio in Washington, D.C., and also worked previously for the Medill News Service. The Press is her first job at a daily newspaper.

Faulx said she was drawn to the job because of the constant changes that are happening in the growing city and area.

“My background is in talking about demographic changes, and so much of that is happening here,” Faulx said. “There are a lot of angles to cover. It’s a very dynamic city.”

Press Managing Editor Dustin Monke said he is excited to have someone with Faulx’s background working for The Press.

“Nadya is a great addition to our newsroom,” Monke said. “Because she’s new to the area, she brings a fresh perspective of what is happening here. That’s something we needed in our editorial staff. Along with that, Nadya is excited about making Dickinson her new home and helping us cover the endless amount of stories we seem to have in our area today.”

Outside of work, Faulx said she enjoys playing pool, going to movies and watching soccer, and looks forward to the area’s warmer weather.

“I’m excited to explore the parks around here and go hiking,” she said.
