Five-acre fire extinguished
Dickinson Rural Fire Department firefighters wet down grassland that was destroyed by a fire Thursday about four miles west of Dickinson. Roughrider Electric Cooperative Inc. employees were changing a fuse on an electric pole near an oil well when it exploded and ignited the fire, according to the Stark County Sheriff's Office. The DRFD and sheriff's office was called to the scene at about 12:40 p.m. Firefighters had the five-acre fire under control at about 1:15 p.m. The wind took the fire away from the oil well and no injuries were reported, according to the DRFD. Roughrider Electric employees continued to work at the site after the fire was extinguished.
