Flaring task force making progress
The North Dakota Petroleum Council's task force on flaring has been talking regularly and has identified some of the challenges it hopes to address, a member of the group said Friday.
“We sort of scoped the issue, identified where the problems or opportunities might lie,” Alliance Pipeline’s Tony Straquadine said.
He said it would be premature to identify any specific solutions the task force is discussing.
Two subcommittees — one on technological and regulatory barriers and one on communications and advocacy with the state — have typically had weekly conference calls, and the full task force has calls a couple times a month, Straquadine said. The task force kicked off in mid-September.
Task force members have been meeting with legislators, regulators and other interested parties, he said. It also is looking at data from the state’s Oil and Gas Division and Pipeline Authority.
The task force plans to present its findings to the North Dakota Industrial Commission in the first quarter of next year.
