Former Racing Services pres suing prosecutors
The former president of a Fargo simulcast horse racing company is suing North Dakota's top state and federal prosecutors.
Susan Bala is the former president of Racing Services Inc., which handled off-track betting. She says in her lawsuit that she's a victim of malicious prosecution by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem and U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley.
Stenehjem declined comment. Wrigley could not be reached for comment.
Bala was convicted in 2005 of illegal gambling. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals threw out the conviction after she served about a year and a half in prison. She was freed in March 2007.
