Frances Gross, 86, of Woodburn OR died on February 22, 2014 at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital in Portland OR. Frances was born on May 15, 1927 in rural Dodge ND. She was the last surviving child of 13 children of Adam and Ottilia (Degenstein) Grinsteinner. She married Joseph Gross on August 16, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic church in Richardton ND. After their marriage, they raised their family of 10 children in the Bismarck ND,then Minneapolis MN areas before moving to Beaverton OR. They finally settled in rural Woodburn OR and became members of the St. Mary Catholic church in Mt. Angel OR. She is survived by her husband Joseph. Her 10 children include Virginia Hanson (deceased), Deborah Lee, Charles Gross, Joseph Gross Jr., Myron Gross, Denise Winter, Kevin Gross, Carla Nawn, Kimberly Cummins, Theresa Gross, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passion for crafting thread into works of art (especially counted cross stitch and crochet, although her talents extended into any aspect of stitching or sewing) was exceeded only by her faith in God and devotion to family. After having previously been a breast cancer survivor, she was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in early January and found eternal peace six weeks later. Viewing will be from noon to 6:00 p.m., Fri., Feb. 28th at Unger Funeral Chapel, Mt. Angel. A Rosary for her will be said on February 28 at 7:00 PM, followed by funeral services on March 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary church in Mt. Angel OR.
