Grand Forks sheriff, office staff face lawsuits

GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks County Sheriff Bob Rost and other county employees face two lawsuitss filed by a 53-year-old Fargo man.

The suits stem from a 2008 criminal case involving Randy Holkesvig, who pleaded guilty to stalking two women and was given a deferred sentence. A restraining order violation was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

This week’s filing comes after an April 3 opinion issued by the North Dakota Supreme Court affirming the district court’s order blocking Holkesvig from filing future motions in a 2011 civil suit.

Including this week’s lawsuits, Holkesvig has filed 12 civil suits in Grand Forks County since 1992.
